Car travel activities for kids

Beginning Seems Coloring Pages

Don't do a great deal of worksheets with my grandparents, but a vehicle trip is the perfect time to pull some out. I made this collection of 26 coloring pages. They simply need to colour the images on each letter that start with that letter. You may find the free printable within this post.

Snacks, Snacks... and More Snacks

And What would a lengthy car ride be without snacks? We don't usually have prepackaged snacks in our house, but I am making this trip an exception. I'm packing mini chocolate chip cookies, honey graham sticks, crispy cheddar crackers, granola bars, and bunny snacks. I am also packing a few dry cereal (a rare treat -- that our kids have plain yogurt with just a scatter of cereal for breakfast), string cheese, snap peas, and baby carrots. Plus a brand-new water jug full of water.

Novels on CD

Our Number one activity on long car rides is studying. Thankfully, my Seven and Five can read by themselves. But my Four specifically doesn't have patience for extended trips, and he's not ready to read independently. I'll read periodically, but it's not something I want to perform for ten hours! That is where books on CD come in. I borrow them from the library, store them in my CD holder, and book multiple copies of each book so each of those big kids can follow alongwith I Also referred to my Best Picture Books for Kids Pinterest plank and found a huge stack of new-to-us publications to take along. (The tough part has been keeping my children from studying them until the big trip!

Fairy Tale Coloring Pages

Here Are a few fairy tale coloring pages that my Four, Five, and Seven will appreciate. These are a freebie that I'm currently offering to my e-mail subscribers. Learn more about these in this informative article.

Sticker Scenes

This Reusable sticker pad out of Melissa and Dog is totally awesome as is. However, I wished to locate a way to make it operate in the auto. The scenes are too large for laps, and undoubtedly for our little trays. So I chose to cut each scene in half and cut the decals into sections. Then each child can have a part of a scene and a set of decals to play. The scenes won't be as striking as they would be with the complete sheets, but you can' t be choosy when you've got seven people jammed to a seven-passenger van.

Drawing Prompts

This Complete the Picture drawing pad from Melissa and Doug is brilliant. It is definitely too complex for my 2 and probably my Four. However, I think that it's something my older two children, ages five and seven, will really enjoy. I had to trim the pages to fit them inside the little baking sheets.
